My awesome cookbook from last entry is in the mail!

Guys guys guys :D I just bought the coolest book ever on eBay :D



I grew up with this cookbook and I keep running into people who say they grew up with it too! None of us could remember what it was called for ages, but I finally did some research tonight while coming up with the menus for Chef de Cuisine. The whole damn thing is delightfully illustrated and it's become a bit of a collector's item (prices went from $40 to $500 when I started looking) but I snagged it for $35 including postage. Yay!!

And this is why I'm not allowed near the Internet. :DDDDD

My favouritest parrot toy shop gave away ten copies of the ABC's awesome Australia: Land of Parrots DVD a week or so ago and guess who won! The DVD arrived today so we sat down and watched it when I got home from work; Wander is totally convinced he is a palm cockatoo.

We know what he was really after, though. Two budgies started making sweet sweet love partway through the documentary and Wander hopped onto evilhayama's leg and edged closer to the TV for a better look... >_>;;

Looking back through my art recently, Painter really is my weapon of choice right now o_O There's just something about the marks I can make with it that feels more satisfying than anything else I draw with digitally, I can't really explain it.

Oh man, it's kind of funny doing design for a specialist industry. One of the websites I was working on today has plagiarised fragments of copy from one of the first websites I did when I started this job but I can't say a thing, really! XD;

I'm adopting out fanlistings! I unfortunately lack the time needed to run the number of fanlisings I currently own so I'm trimming down my collection. I'm hoping that some of you will be able to give these FLs loving new homes. So if you're interested in Cutey Honey Flash, Mnemosyne -Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi-, Soul Eater, Code Geass or Ergo Proxy then get moving!

It's that time of year again, the time when the few TV shows I watch crawl out of preproduction onto the screen (and certain websites...), so I've been catching up. Top Gear and Mythbusters are the main ones, with Good Game starting on monday. A new find is The Middleman, a sarky Men In Black parody with some good writing. It reminds me a lot of Due South and Northern Exposure, lots of funny dialogue played straight, with a fair number of silly plot elements.

Middleman racks up the ridiculous pretty quick, the second episode involves a hyper-intelligent mafia-otaku gorilla in a plot to take over the city. The third won me over by including Mark Decascos as a martial arts master who wears a Lucha Libre mask.

I also have to extoll the brilliance of Braid, out now on XBLA, soon to be on PC. It's a puzzle platformer with serious timefuckery. In one of the levels walking right moves time forwards, and walking left reverses time. My brain hasn't been worked out like that since Portal! Get it, get to the ending, and be amazed!

jokersama objected to the use of carrots in the ingredient list, but it tasted fine to us. XD I finally turned off voice recognition because that was getting us nowhere.

We went to a farmers' market yesterday morning and bought a bunch of fresh ingredients so I kinda made this recipe up when we got back... but it turned out great! Thank you to arabel and ravichan for giving me an excuse to cook extravagant things like this :3 Dinner was accompanied by a bottle of Poole's Rock 2006 Firestick Late Harvest Shiraz (one of our many purchases from the Hunter trip).

I'll probably post more about these on food_sketch later!
